Privacy Policy for
CrowdCount LLC and its products
Effective Date:
December 28th, 2025
1. Introduction
Welcome to CrowdCount LLC (collectively referred to as "CrowdCount", "we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your personal data and your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our website, Crowd Counter and iOS app.
CrowdCount is designed to measure occupancy and traffic levels, not to identify individuals. Our systems do not perform facial recognition or attempt to identify specific people in video feeds.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of personal data through our website, products, and app:
Information is collected via Stripe for payment processing (see Stripe's Privacy Policy for details here).
Your WiFi name and password (stored directly on the counter and cannot be accessed by us).
Video feeds from the camera on our Crowd Counter devices, which are processed in real time to generate anonymous occupancy data. In standard production deployments this footage is not stored for later viewing and is not accessible to CrowdCount personnel, except for limited short term buffering needed for system operation. During pilot programs, we may temporarily retain and review limited portions of video feeds for testing and improvement, as described in Section 14.
Your counter's population count data and history.
Overcrowding count, if added, will be stored on our server, but will not be publicly accessible unless you choose to make your overcrowding count public on the map.
Your browser location if you accept. Our website may request access to your location to center the map on your position. This location data is used only in your browser session and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Your device location if you grant permission in our iOS app. Similar to the website, the app may request location access to center the map on your position. This location data is used only within the app and is not transmitted to or stored on our servers.
Your counter's location if you wish to be added to the map.
General app usage data. Specific user identifying data is not collected.
Push notification tokens (APNs device tokens) if you enable notifications in our iOS app. These tokens are used solely to send you overcrowding alerts and service notifications.
Your device's camera may be accessed in our iOS app to scan QR codes during device provisioning. No images or video from your phone's camera are stored or transmitted.
Bluetooth data is used in our iOS app to communicate with Crowd Counter devices during setup. This includes transmitting your WiFi credentials directly to the counter device via Bluetooth.
Photo library access may be requested in our iOS app if you choose to upload images for promotions. Selected images are processed and transmitted to our servers for review.
Promotion data including images, titles, descriptions, call-to-action text, and links if you create promotions through our app.
Report submissions through our website including your name, email, selected location, and report details if you choose to submit a report about a counter.
A unique app identifier (UUID) is generated and stored locally on your device when you first use our iOS app. This identifier is used for app functionality and is not linked to your personal identity.
3. How We Collect Data
We collect personal data when you purchase our product through a form on our website. The data collection is facilitated by Stripe, a third party payment processor.
Data such as camera footage is also collected from the Crowd Counter and processed in real time by our servers to generate occupancy counts. In standard production deployments the footage is not stored or accessible for later viewing. During pilot programs, we may temporarily store and review limited portions of footage as described in Section 14.
Population counting data is taken from the processed footage of the counter.
User location for the map is collected by the browser.
Counter location for the map is collected when the client sends us a message requesting to be added to the map.
General app usage data is collected by the app. Absolutely no data regarding the app's specific user identity is collected.
Push notification tokens are collected when you grant notification permissions in our iOS app and register for overcrowding alerts.
Bluetooth communication occurs during device setup when your iOS device pairs with a Crowd Counter to transmit WiFi credentials.
QR code data is captured via your phone's camera during device provisioning to identify and authenticate your counter.
Photo data is collected when you select images from your photo library for promotion submissions.
Report data is collected when you voluntarily submit a report through our website's report form.
4. Data Collection from Children
We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under the age of 13.
5. Use of Your Data
We use the collected data to:
Process payments for our products.
Ship purchased products to your specified address.
Provide you with counting data and history taken from the Crowd Counter.
Show Crowd Counters on the map and center the map to your location.
Use general app usage data as aggregated analytical data on our end.
Test, validate, and improve our models and systems during pilot programs, as described in Section 14.
Send you push notifications about overcrowding alerts and important service updates if you have enabled notifications.
Process and display promotions you create through our app.
Investigate and respond to reports submitted through our website.
Track promotion engagement (clicks) in an anonymized manner.
6. Data Sharing
We do not share your personal data with third parties, except as necessary to process your payment through Stripe.
7. Data Storage and Security
We take the following measures to protect your data:
Counter passwords are encrypted.
WiFi passwords are stored on the counter and cannot be accessed by our servers.
In standard production deployments, counter camera footage is processed in real time, is not stored for later viewing, and is not accessible to CrowdCount personnel, except for limited short term buffering needed for system operation. During pilot programs we may temporarily store and review limited portions of footage under strict access controls and automatic deletion schedules, as described in Section 14.
All other data management is handled by Stripe, which employs its own security measures.
For clients who choose to share their counter's location, the locations are stored in our database and both the location and current count can be viewed when someone visits our map.
Website visitor locations are not stored anywhere and are only used to center the map when you load the webpage.
App usage data is not affiliated with you personally; we cannot see how a specific identified user is interacting with our app and products.
Push notification tokens are stored on our servers only for the purpose of sending you notifications you have opted into.
Promotion images and data are stored on our servers for the duration of your promotion campaign plus a reasonable retention period.
Report submissions are stored on our servers to investigate and address reported issues.
8. Data Retention
Limited video clips retained during pilot programs are kept only for short periods necessary to test, validate, and improve system performance and are automatically deleted within a limited period, as described in Section 14.
Website location data is not retained or stored anywhere.
Data such as purchase information and your email is retained as long as you have the counter purchased through our services or as needed to comply with legal or accounting obligations.
The counter's location is retained until requested to be modified or removed by our client.
We retain basic app usage data such as the amount of concurrent users in an aggregated form.
Push notification tokens are retained until you unregister from notifications or uninstall the app.
Promotion data is retained for the duration of your promotion campaign and may be kept for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping purposes.
Report submission data is retained as needed to investigate and resolve reported issues.
Local app data (such as your app identifier, device settings, and cached data) is stored on your device and retained until you delete the app.

If a change materially affects how we handle your data, we will notify you in advance.

14. Pilot Programs and Test Deployments
During limited pilot programs or test deployments, we may enable additional data processing to test, validate, and improve CrowdCount.
During a pilot, video feeds are processed in real time by the cameras and servers to generate anonymous occupancy data. The system does not perform facial recognition or attempt to identify individual people.
During a pilot only, authorized CrowdCount personnel may review and analyze limited portions of video feeds solely to test, validate, and improve our detection models and system reliability.
Any video retained for these purposes is limited to short term buffering and temporary test clips needed for system operation and testing and is automatically deleted within a limited period.
These video feeds are not used for any purpose other than operating the CrowdCount system and the pilot testing, validation, and improvement activities described in this section.
Access to pilot video data is restricted to authorized personnel and handled in accordance with our internal data protection procedures.
In production deployments outside of pilot programs, video feeds are processed in real time to produce occupancy counts and are not monitored by humans or retained for model improvement.
15. iOS App Permissions
Our iOS app may request the following permissions:
